How Business Leads

It’s BSR’s 25th anniversary year, and profound change is shaping sustainable business. Three developments are flowing together to shape how we and our member companies think about the best ways to meet this moment. First, we have a clear roadmap for what a just and sustainable world actually means, thanks to the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. Second, every business is experiencing disruption and asking new questions about its offerings, customers, competitors, and business models. Finally, political volatility is presenting a very direct challenge to long-held sustainability goals.

To address this moment, our 25th anniversary Conference will explore “How Business Leads.” Business leadership takes many forms. At BSR17, we will present compelling examples of how the private sector is leading by setting ambitious goals; using sustainability to innovate; collaborating for systemic solutions; and using its voice to advocate for public-policy frameworks that enable greater progress on climate, inclusive economy, and other crucial topics.
